What Healthcare Information Do Patients Track?
- Posted on: May 6 2014
A recent survey conducted by Accenture looked into how U.S. patients track their medical and healthcare information. With more and more physicians making the switch to EHR (Electronic Health Records) and EMR (Electronic Medical Records), the ease with which patients can check their health records is estimated to continue to increase.
Many U.S. consumers are actively tracking information about their health according to an Accenture Consumer Survey findings. Some of the most popular health information that patients track includes diet and weight, but a substantial amount of patients also keep tabs on health factors specific to their current conditions.
The survey found that:
- Consumers most commonly monitor their health history, with 37 percent regularly keeping track of their history
- 34 percent keep track of their physical activity or diet
- 33 percent keep track of their health indicators, such as weight and blood pressure
- 26 percent of patients keep track of their symptoms
The survey also found that approximately one-third of patients say that their current medical providers have electronic capabilities. Does your practice’s current website have a patient portal where patients can access their medical health information? Learn more about electronic health records!
