Google+ Local To Replace Google Places
- Posted on: May 31 2012
Google announced yesterday their rollout of the new Google+ Local, set to replace Google Places. This new experience blends Google+ with Google Maps, business listings and Zagat reviews. According to Google, Google+ Local is “integrated into Search, Maps and mobile and available as a new tab in Google+—creating one simple experience across Google.”
So, what will change?
- Google+ Local pages will completely replace all Google Places pages
- Addition of a “Local” tab in Google+
- Circles filter to find place reviews/recommendations from friends, family and colleagues on Google+
- Free Zagat reviews
- More social interaction
- More social features to come!
For now, you can continue to manage your Google Places listing at Google Places for Business, although this may change overtime as more social features are added to Google+ Local.
Google+: The social network that can no longer be ignored!
With the integration of Google Places and Google+ social features, there will be far more opportunity to reach those interacting with your brand on Google+ Local. We feel it’s safe to say Google+ can no longer be ignored!
